Finally in New Orleans

After a 12 hour drive through Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, I'm finally relaxing in The Big Easy before I start work at The Times-Picayune tomorrow.

As for the drive down, there wasn't much of anything to note, except Nashville has one confusing ass loop around it's city. So many splits and interstates to jump on, I'm sure everyone driving through the city for the first time gets turned around and headed towards Memphis or something...like I did. But after about five miles in the wrong direction, I figured heading west was probably not the right way.

I want to visit Memphis at some point, but just not yesterday. And holy shit, when did Alabama become the size of Africa? It sure felt like it yesterday. Shit, that state just seemed to get bigger and bigger as I drove through it.

But all in all, it was an easy ride down, and hopefully everything else goes smoothly in the next few days while I settle in and get used to the city.

Oh, Steve-O, how I miss/love thee... Great to hear you made it OK. However, I wish you would have included which song you rocked out to when entering New Orleans. See you soon! (I'm thinking positive..I don't want to cry myself to sleep anymore...)
